This is where it all began. When I got my first opportunity to compose music for a play. The Phoenix Theatre (University of Victoria) production of "Turandot" in 2001. I was an acting major, acting in the show, and the director asked me to compose the musical score. The penny dropped. I could combine my love of theatre and writing music! Many years (and many scores for many plays and film/tv projects) later, I'm so grateful that this opportunity presented itself to me and that the amazing people around me were so supportive. Glad I listed "Composing Music" under special skills in my actor's resume!
